I thought it was interesting that Japan has traditional foods for new years, since in America we generally don't have much tradition for it. I think the only thing I would consider an American tradition for new years is simply staying up until midnight and possibly watching something on TV (the ball dropping in Times Square) or seeing fireworks. I'd also be a little curious as to what those traditional foods are and if they are typically had only at new years, or at other occasions as well.

maybe it's a sign of getting older... w(*o*)w

Japanese traditional new year's foods are only for New Year's. Those foods are cooked and last long time. It's the idea that housewives prepare the foods before the new year and they get to get a break from cooking during the new year's.

  3. i also think that it would be fun to have more traditions for american new years, i feel we just use it as an excuse to get drunk and party. i would also like to experience a japanese new years party, it seems like it would be fun. they welcome the new year and get ready for it. we just kind of ignore it. i also like simple plan they are a good band! i like all of their songs.
